Mama Jessie’s Kesong Puti: Homemade Kesong Puti from Nueva Ecija

If you’re looking to add a unique twist to your breakfast or merienda, I honestly recommend that you try out Mama Jessie’s Kesong Puti—homemade kesong puti made with fresh Carabao’s milk from Gapan, Nueva Ecija.

The recipe all started with Mama Jessie, which was passed down to her daughter, Marivic, who expanded the hobby into a business in 2000.

For ten years, the business had no name—surviving only through word-of-mouth and referrals from those who discovered it through bazaars and deli stores. Eventually, Mama Jessie’s Kesong Puti made it into the recipes of esteemed restaurants in Metro Manila—and just this year, they finally re-branded themselves by launching their very own website, http://kesongputi.com, where you can order packs or containers online.

There are a number of dishes you can incorporate Mama Jessie’s Kesong Puti in—like pizza, pasta, or grilled cheese sandwiches. What’s great about it is you can eat it alone (personally, I love heating it in the microwave for a minute to get the mozzarella-like texture) and it’s also perfect with pan de sal or bread. Sometimes, I also fry it with olive oil! It’s a really versatile cheese—almost as versatile as mozzarella.

Aside from ordering online, you can also find Mama Jessie’s Kesong Puti in any of Something Different Bakeshop’s weekend bazaars. Check out the schedule below.

With the Christmas season coming up, it’s a great gift to give colleagues and relatives—so order them a container today!
