I’m so excited to share with you guys that I just finished fashion makeup class in Fashion Institute of the Philippines (Makati Branch) last Saturday! Working for Glamourbox and writing about beauty has inspired me to take it up a few months ago, especially because I enjoy playing with makeup and it’s a skill I can use in the office (Pinkoolaid and I take turns in training our beauty consultants on how to sell our products and how to apply them).
I enrolled for the class last February (I think classes were to start in March), but because a lot of trips and events took place during the summer, I ended up delaying it and starting with the June batch. We were a total of three students, and our instructor was Bryan Yokota, chief hairstylist and brand ambassador of Rustan’s. Classes were held every Saturday from 10am to 5pm in their Makati branch (2nd Floor, OPL Building, C. Palanca cor. Dela Rosa Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati). Tuition fee was just Php 12,000 but this doesn’t include your makeup kit and model yet. I had to invest in the makeup products I was to use (which I actually had no problem with, because this already served as an investment for my makeup kit. Plus I had my preferred products to use). I also had no problem with my model, because my sister, cousin, and brother’s girlfriend took turns volunteering.
I learned so much in just two months—from no makeup makeup look, to bridal makeup, to smokey eye, to avant garde, to male grooming. I even learned how to “erase eyebrows” and how to do basic hair styling. The fun parts were doing photo shoots with professional models. The styling class, photography class, and our class collaborated together to do a couple of shoots.
With makeup class over, I’m really excited to go out there and work with different people. The class made me realize that I enjoy applying makeup on others more than myself. Haha! I plan to start working on my portfolio soon, so if you guys want to have your makeup done, please feel free to contact me!
