Hi, everyone! I have a new category on the blog that I was so eager to add the moment we found out. After a year of trying to conceive, we can finally make our pregnancy announcement! It was definitely a roller coaster of emotions, especially after we experienced an early miscarriage last October 2020.
To be honest, it really messed up my mental health. I was silent about it for the longest time but with time and a lot of tears shed, I slowly healed. Every night, I stormed the heavens with prayers that if it’s meant to be, it will happen. And it did!The Story of How We Found Out
Last October 2020 (we were still living in Makati), when we found out we were pregnant, we bought little onesies because that was how we wanted to surprise our parents. But sadly, I had an early miscarriage. So I just kept the onesies. When we moved into our house, I somehow misplaced them. I told myself that maybe the onesies will show up when I get pregnant again. And then one night, for some reason, I had the biggest feeling I was pregnant. Incidentally, I opened one of the drawers in our closet and lo and behold! The onesies were there! I immediately took it as a sign to take two pregnancy tests. In less than a minute, the two lines appeared in both tests.
Pregnancy in the Middle of a Pandemic
Being pregnant in the middle of a pandemic definitely adds more to the anxiety I’m already feeling. I’ve been to my OB twice in The Medical City and each time, I gear myself up with double masks, a face shield, and an air purifier necklace. A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders when the Cupcake and I got vaccinated with our first dose of Pfizer recently. Our LGU allocated Pfizer vaccines to our barangay and we were lucky enough to get slots. Everything was done in our village clubhouse, which was so convenient! My OB cleared me to get vaccinated as early as 12 weeks—for as long as the vaccine brand was Pfizer. If it was any other brand, I’d have to wait until I was 20 weeks. I’m hoping that by being vaccinated, our baby will develop antibodies to protect him or her.
Our Pregnancy Announcement on Social Media
Being a huge wrestling fan, I wanted to use a WWE reference to make our pregnancy announcement on social media. And since Stone Cold Steve Austin is my favorite wrestler of all time, I had a custom onesie made! Some non-wrestling fans thought we were naming our baby Austin, but that’s not the case at all! Hahaha. In two to three months, we’ll find out if it’s a boy or a girl. What do you think our baby’s gender will be?
Anyway, I was just really excited to share the news here on the blog. This platform has always been one of my ways to document the many milestones in my life, and this is definitely one of them. To follow my pregnancy journey on Instagram, check out the hashtag #PreggyFraggy!
