Hi, everyone! My name is Gretchen Gatan. I’m a writer and editor based in Metro Manila, Philippines. If you’re new here, welcome to Greta’s Junkyard—a dumpsite of my favorite things! Here you’ll find many articles on beauty, travel, lifestyle, and more. If you’ve stumbled upon this post, you must be keen to find out what the best collagen supplement in the Philippines is.
But first—a quick introduction!
I started taking collagen supplements when I was 25 years old. At that time, I worked as the Marketing Manager of Glamourbox and I had a colleague and good friend, Angel Feliciano of Pinkoolaid.com, who influenced me to start taking. Angel is a few years older than me but her skin looks absolutely fresh and radiant! I can’t thank her enough for introducing me to the wonders and benefits of collagen.
To this day, I still take collagen supplements. And though my life gets pretty hectic since I manage our household, am a first-time mom to a beautiful baby girl named Cambria, and barely get enough rest since I also work full-time and have no nanny, I think my skin looks relatively healthy and glowing.
Different collagen brands I’ve tried
There are so many brands that sell collagen supplements in the Philippines. And I’ve tried many of them! First, there’s Meiji Amino Collagen Powder, which Angel highly recommended. Since it comes in powder form, I would mix it with a glass of water and drink it straight. This was the collagen I took for a few years until I discovered Koragem, which came in capsules. It was much easier and faster to drink. Unfortunately, Koragem stopped producing sometime in 2019.
Then, there’s Shiseido The Collagen. I even attended their launch in 2017. They come in three formats—powder, liquid, and tablet. But the easiest to drink was, of course, the tablets. I just take it together with my daily vitamins, which include Vitamin C, Zinc, and Biotin. It’s available on Lazada, which I recently purchased.
Up next is from a brand called Herbs of the Earth. I’ve tried both their collagen and biotin supplements. I read that it’s safe for pregnant women, which is why while I was pregnant with Cambria, I took (and continue to take even while breastfeeding) their biotin supplements. It helped a lot with my postpartum hair fall.
Last but not least that I’ve tried is the Hydrolyzed Collagen from Puritan’s Pride. I find theirs to be really sulit because it comes in a big jar with 180 tablets and for only P1,000.
The best collagen supplement in the Philippines for me
However, out of all the brands I’ve tried, in my honest opinion, the best is Shiseido the Collagen. I really noticed a different kind of glow in my skin while I was taking it. The only downside is that it’s one of the most expensive. I think a bottle of 120 tablets is around P1,500. Nevertheless, the results are amazing. My pores appeared smaller and it gave me a lit-from-within radiance.
If you ask me, it’s a worthwhile investment. On top of applying my daily skincare routine, taking collagen supplements boosts my skin’s health.
