My fondness for plants must have started way back when I still worked at my previous job, where my old boss gave each of her employees a succulent plant (an Echeveria elegans) to take care of. I was eager to grow it and make it survive, but due to the enclosed space of our office, and the lack of windows, most (if not all) our succulents died—leaving me a little disheartened.
I thought growing plants was something I was naturally bad at.Fast-forward to when I moved to my current job, where my desk is quite literally right beside a large window. On my second day, I decided to bring in a new plant (a Sansevieria bacularis) named Spikey, and in the two years I’ve had him, my plant collection has grown both in the office and at home.
It was then that I realized there are low maintenance plants (for plant newbies like me) that are very easy to take care of—like Spikey and Aragog (a Barrel cactus that one of my bridesmaids gifted). So if you’re also thinking about growing your own plant collection at home or in the office (different plants have many different benefits—read up on it!), here’s an online shop where you can buy indoor plants in Manila: Plants Heaven PH.
They offer affordable and low maintenance indoor plants that serve as an antidote for stress. I love that the plants they gave me were all pet-friendly as well—so it’s safe even if Booboo is around! To view their full collection, follow them on Instagram here.
I’m already looking forward to the day I move into a new home with my soon-to-be-husband, the Cupcake, so that we can collect and take care of plants together!
What about you guys? Do you have plants at home? Do they have names? What are other plants that are easy to take care of? Let me know in the comments!
