Thoughts Running Through my Head While on Quarantine

There have been so many thoughts running through my head since the quarantine started.

I‘m scared. I worry for my parents, who are in their 50s and have been the ones going out to buy groceries and essentials for our home in QC. A home that is so near Philippine Heart Center and East Avenue Medical Center.

A home in a city with a mayor who I wish is doing more for its citizens. I worry for my asthmatic grandmother in her late 70s, who lives in the same home (along with my siblings, cousins, uncle, aunt, and househelp). I worry for my senior citizen parents-in-law, especially my father-in-law, who’s been extra active at their barangay (also in QC) due to the current situation. I worry for one of my closest cousins, who’s a frontliner at NKTI. I worry for all my loved ones, and I know that staying home and isolated in Makati is for the best—but I just want to say how much I miss, love, and worry for them all.

I’m mad. I’m so mad at our government. And I’ve been trying to contain that anger, but today I decided to channel all that into something more positive. I’ve felt helpless these past few days, but I realized that there’s still something I can do to help while on quarantine. I’ve donated to a few causes/organizations that are very close to my heart, and if you’d like to help them as well, I posted a series in my IG Highlights. It’s not much, but it’s something. And I wish that there was more I can do to help.

I’m thankful—thankful to all the doctors, nurses, guards, riders, volunteers, grocery employees, honest and efficient public servants, and more who are risking their lives and/or trying to help fight this virus. I’m thankful for big companies/groups who are helping out financially. I’m thankful for friends who have been messaging more frequently to check on each other. I’m thankful for my husband, who has been giving me strength.

It’s been a struggle trying to focus on work. It’s so hard not to be scared, it’s so hard not to worry, and it’s so hard not to be mad. I hope and pray that the world heals, and that this will all be over soon. Please, please keep safe. If you can, just stay at home. But if you have to leave—wear a mask, practice social distancing, make sure to really sanitize everything when you get back (clothes, shoes, keys, wallet, phone, etc.), and take a shower (not just wash your hands!). Sending virtual hugs to everyone. 🖤
