How to Spot Treat Pimples

As much as I want to achieve super duper perfect skin, there are instances where I do grow a pimple here and there—usually when I’m about to get my period. Fortunately, it’s not like before during my teenage years where I would really breakout on my forehead and cheeks (usually due to oil, sweat, and dirt from playing softball and Ultimate).

I’m happy to have overcome those ugly duckling days, but it doesn’t mean that I’m exempted from still getting zits once in a while. It’s frustrating and it feeds my insecurities—especially being in an industry where skin is probably the most important thing.

Thankfully, I discovered a pretty effective solution in getting rid of pimples fast. But before I get into that, let’s first discuss where pimples come from.

Acne is usually associated with hormones, because of the imbalance that tends to occur during our teenage years. However, many adults experience acne as well—and it’s usually because of the bacteria that builds up and clogs our pores. Most of the time, it’s those of us with oily skin that suffer from acne, because the oil attracts dirt and causes our pores to get clogged.

In my gazillion trips to the dermatologist to treat my acne breakouts when I was younger, I learned many different ways to avoid getting acne and which products are actually effective in getting rid of them fast. And in the many years that I’ve been extremely invested with my skincare, I was also able to experiment which products work best on me, and which ones don’t.

And the reason I’m writing this article is because I think I’ve found the most effective combination of products to spot treat pimples. These include Celeteque’s Acne Spot Corrector Gel (which now comes in a 15mL size; I’ve been buying this for years and I always hoped they’d come out with a bigger size), COSRX’s One Step Pimple Clear Pads, and COSRX’s Pimple Master Patch.

Note that I’m not a doctor nor an expert when it comes to skincare, and I only found this combination solely on experimenting. I can’t guarantee that it will work for you the same way it works for me, but it doesn’t hurt to try! This is also not something I would recommend to those breaking out badly—I would suggest that you go see your dermatologist first. For me, this treats more of papules and pustules (inflammatory acne that are red and swollen).

So first things first—whenever I wake up with a random pimple or two (usually on my forehead or temples), I still follow the same daytime and evening skincare routine, but I just add these products to the mix.

Daytime Skincare Routine

  • wash face with cleanser
  • take one pad of the COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad and apply it on areas affected only
  • wait for it to dry a few minutes (so the skin can fully absorb) before applying toner
  • apply eye cream and sunblock
  • take a COSRX Pimple Master Patch (choose the size that best fits your pimple) and carefully stick it on the pimple; the beauty of this product is that it camouflages perfectly on the skin, so aside from protecting your pimple and drying it up faster, it conceals it as well!

Evening Skincare Routine

  • wash face with cleanser
  • take one pad of the COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad and apply it on areas affected only
  • wait for it to dry a few minutes (so the skin can fully absorb) before applying toner
  • apply eye cream
  • apply Celeteque’s Acne Spot Corrector Gel (for best results, I let the gel stay on my pimple for 1 to 2 minutes before patting it down gently)
  • apply essence/serum, and lock it in with your moisturizer

It’s really as simple as that! After 1 to 2 days, the pimple/s are (more often than not) gone. The best part about these products is that they’re actually priced pretty reasonably. The One Step Pimple Clear Pad is Php 810, the Pimple Master Patch is Php 200, and the Acne Spot Corrector Gel (15 mL) is Php 499. You can get both COSRX products at www.calyxta.com!

Have you guys tried any of these products? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments below! Feel free to also ask me anything, in case you have questions.
