A while back, I posted on Instagram that I was going to do a review on the difference between Maybelline’s Powder Matte in Touch of Nude and Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice. It actually took me this long to upload because I had planned on swatching both shades on my lips as well, so that you guys can also see how it looks like apart from the swatches on my arm.
But then you know the drill—I left for the States, never had the time to swatch them while I was there, then eventually I came back home and had time again! Haha.Anyway, here it is! In terms of pigmentation, you only need a few swipes to get the richness of each color. Staying power won’t disappointment, considering these are so affordable. I mean, it will transfer if you wipe your lips on tissue or if you drink from a glass—but there’s still enough tint that stays at the end of a meal. Comfort-wise, I love applying lip balm liberally all over my lips before wearing the lipsticks, which is why in the photos, you can see that my lips aren’t as matte compared to wearing the product alone. But again, considering the price, that’s something that I can let slide. I find the Powder Mattes more comfortable than the Creamy Mattes as well, because it feels a little more lightweight on my lips.
With regard to the hues, Touch of Nude is slightly more on the coral side while Touch of Spice has a rosier tint—so it really depends on your preference on what lippie shade works best for your look. Since my eye makeup was my usual earthy tone, both shades complemented it really well.
What do you guys think? Are you Team Touch of Nude or Team Touch of Spice?
