Clio Rouge Heel Velvet Review and Swatches

There must be something about July, because I just realized I churned out a total of 12 articles for this month alone (as compared to the usual 3 to 4 articles per month that I write during weekends or after work). But when I think about it, my work load at the office hasn’t changed or lightened, so I really must have more energy and creative juice stored than my norm, and I’m not one to complain!

I love that my weekends have been pretty chill lately as well, which gave me more time to shoot and road test a backlog of products—including Clio’s Rouge Heel Velvet in the shades o1 Red to Go, 05 Pink Me Up, 07 Bird Kiss, 08 Touch Moment, and 10 Good Mauve.

I received these last May after attending the Club Clio x Edward Avila event at SM Makati, where I got to reunite with my Glamourbox Partner-in-Crime, Pinkoolaid, who happens to be the Product Manager of the brand. One thing that immediately drew me towards these lippies was the minimalist packaging. I know that they say never judge a book by its cover, but packaging is the first thing that catches my eye (as I’m sure it does with most of you as well), so the packaging alone made me even more intrigued about the product. I think it’s also the reason why I took this long to review the products—because it was too pretty to open! Haha.

Anyway, now that I finally opened and swatched them, all I can say is I regret nothing. I love the creamy texture of the lippies and how at one swipe, you get the full color payoff. The shades I was given were all super wearable as well, and my sister, cousins, and I had a fun time swatching everything. My favorite, just because it was slightly different from my go-to shades, is Bird Kiss—because it gives me this bright coral lip, which I’m sure would be fun to experiment with. My cousin, who is a morena beauty, asked if she could keep Touch Moment, because the nude shade looked like the color of her lips but better. Red to Go is a cool-toned red, which suits almost any skin tone, while Pink Me Up is a Barbie pink that I can imagine for monochromatic looks, and Good Mauve is a dark mauve for days when you’re feeling bold, but it’s still a shade wearable at school or the office.

Compared to Clio’s Rouge Heel, which has a satin finish, the Rouge Heel Velvet has a comfortable, velvet matte finish that glides on like butter on your lips, and for only PhP 850 each. I think there are more shades available, so if you guys can, go visit Club Clio stores in Trinoma, Cloverleaf, SM Fairview, SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, Robinson’s Galleria, Robinson’s Magnolia, Lucky Chinatown, SM Makati, SM Mall of Asia, and Festival Mall.
