My love for wines started when I reached my mid-20s. Compared to cocktails and beer, I found wine to be the easiest to drink. Eventually, I learned to appreciate it even more when I started educating myself and experimenting with different styles. I often gravitated towards full-bodied red wines like Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon, and aromatic white wines like Moscato.
These days, wine has become a staple in our household. I always like treating myself to a glass of wine together with my favorites: Camembert cheese, olives, and tapas! It’s a lot more fun for me these days, because my younger siblings and cousins (who used to prefer hard drinks and cocktails) now have an appreciation for wine as well. And so weekends for us usually include enjoying our preferred wines together!
About Barefoot Wines Philippines
Founded in 1965 by California winemaker, Davis Bynum, he created the first Barefoot wine in his garage. The unconventional name referred to the free-spirited method of crushing grapes barefoot! In 1986, things began to really kick off when visionary entrepreneurs, Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey, took the helm—renaming the brand to Barefoot Cellars and creating the footprint label that they’re known for today.
Budget Wines
Their wines are priced under P500—which is great if you’re looking to buy quality wines without hurting your wallet. If you’re throwing a family gathering at home, and you know that every single member will drink wine all night, you can get multiple bottles and not worry about spending so much! It’s also great for weddings and other occasions with larger gatherings—Barefoot Wines make it possible to still serve good wines at affordable costs.
My Favorites from Barefoot Wines Philippines
Of the ones I’ve tried from Barefoot Wines, my favorites would have to be the following:
Barefoot Moscato
Their moscato is a crisp and refreshing blend of juicy peaches and sweet apricots—combining lush and fruity aromas with a bright finish. Pair it with light desserts and artisanal cheeses, similar to how my cousins and I love drinking it with cakes after dinner!
Barefoot Pink Moscato
Compared to the moscato, their pink moscato is packed with full flavors of cherries, raspberries, and pomegranates. The brand suggests to complement it with spicy appetizers and fresh strawberries!
Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon
Bursting with bold flavors of raspberry and blackberry jam, topped off with notes of currant and smooth vanilla, this lush wine can be paired with almost anything! It’s actually my preferred Friday night wine, especially if I’m looking to unwind after a long and busy week.
