So you’re not a good photographer (like me), and most of the time you only use your phone to capture memorable snippets of your life the best way that you can to preserve them (like me).
I’ve been so addicted to Instagram since 2010 (I think it’s pretty obvious in the number of posts I have), and having seen the different trends in social media, Instagram has become the place where you sort of show off your lifestyle and personality in the most subtle of ways.
Before anything else, the first question you have to ask yourself before posting something is: Is it Instagram-worthy? If the answer is yes, then here below are simple tips on how to take good Instagram photos and making you a favorite among followers.
1. Choose your filters wisely.
Filters can make or break your photo. I use apps like Aviary, Camera360, Over, and VSCOcam to improve mine. But there are also a lot of times where I leave it with #nofilter because the lighting and the subject just make it an already perfect photo.
2. Take photos in good lighting.
Photos that are dark and grainy don’t appear as nice on feeds, despite the filters.
3. You can never go wrong with a white background. Wooden backgrounds are cute, too.
4. Nature and travel photos add life to your account!
5. Don’t be afraid to explore your creative side!
Take photos in a different way.
6. Your captions need to follow three W’s: witty, well-written, and woah.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but complement it with the perfect caption and you’ve got yourself an amazing Instagram post that’s sure to receive hearts from everyone.
7. Don’t overhashtag!
While we all enjoy the frequent appearance of that tiny orange heart on our screens, overtagging can be annoying and can make you look like you’re trying too hard. Let the pretty photo speak for itself.
So there you have it! Those are just some tips to help you take good Instagram photos that will make your followers go wow! Got your own tips to share? I’d love to hear them so please feel free to comment below!
