REKASAKA: Repormadong Kababaihan Sandigan ng Kaunlaran

In case you missed it, Greta’s Junkyard is a media partner of HabiBaihan: Habi ng Kababaihan, Para sa Kababaihan. It’s a non-profit initiative led by DLSU-M SHS Section ABM 12-G. This is under the Service Learning Program of their Christian Living Department together with the Center for Social Concern and Action unit of DLSU-M SHS.

They are partners with REKASAKA—short for Repormadong Kababaihan Sandigan ng Kaunlaran.

What is REKASAKA?

It’s a women-led organization focused on improving a community in Phase VII of Bagong Silang in Caloocan. Moreover, REKASAKA recognizes all genders’ equal rights. They started last October 12, 1992. They lead projects such as relief good drives, the building of a daycare center, and Inclusive Education for the Alternative Learning System.

Shop Locally-Made Rags

The objective of HabiBaihan is to progress REKASAKA’s program by selling locally-made rags. The funds from these sales will help improve their community and other organizational projects. Additionally, HabiBaihan aims to impart skills and knowledge to the REKASAKA members. This is in the hopes of improving their awareness and sales.

Some of the help that HabiBaihan has given are marketing plans, branding and entrepreneurship workshops, and setting up e-commerce platforms.

To support the women of REKASAKA, check out their official store on Shopee. Choose from various woven rags, potholders, coasters, and more! You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
