In the decade that I’ve lived in Greenhills, particularly along Eisenhower Street, I must admit that I’ve never tried stepping foot inside Footzone Day Spa (located on the ground floor of Richbelt Tower along Annapolis Street). However, the place is very familiar to me because I used to walk every corner and crevice of Greenhills (I can snake my way through Promenade, Theatre Mall, Tiangge, Shoppesville, V-Mall, and Unimart with my eyes closed), and after my experience with Footzone Day Spa last Sunday, all I can say is that I wish I had visited the place sooner.
When it comes to pampering myself, my one beauty indulgence is getting a massage whenever I can. I usually have my go-to spas in certain areas, and I can tell you which ones among those that I’ve tried give an excellent service. At least I know now that should I get tired from shopping in Greenhills all day, I can easily walk to Footzone Day Spa to get pampered.
My mom, cousin, and I were treated to a Foot Reflexology (my mom) and Full Body Massage (me and my cousin) when we visited. Upon entering the wide glass doors, we were immediately greeted by an oriental-themed interior that reminds you of a hotel lobby. Even the staff were dressed in crisp uniforms that made it feel like we were in a hotel instead of a spa!
We were given a quick tour and learned that Footzone Day Spa has actually been around for 30 years now, which in my opinion is a testament that they’ve built a strong following among their clients. Another reason I believe this is the number of customers that walked in and out of the spa in the ten minutes that we were seated in the lobby, while waiting for our pampering sessions to start. Since their renovation last year, Footzone Day Spa now boasts over 20 rooms that all include remote-controlled massage beds and high-definition TV’s. Some rooms house just a single massage bed (complete with a private shower and sauna), while others have two—perfect for couples or best friends to enjoy a pampering session together.
My cousin and I shared a room, while my mom was led to a separate room for her Foot Reflexology. Footzone Day Spa is also open to spa parties, where a group of up to six people can enjoy foot and back massages together.
What my cousin, Ina, and I looked forward to was what made Footzone Day Spa’s full body massage unique. Our room was extra cozy, and we were asked to change into silk pajamas that made me want one for myself. We were also served cogon tea, a delicious sweet beverage that had a subtle corn flavor, which I nearly drank in one gulp.
You can tell by the way their therapists moved that they’re incredibly well-practiced to gently remove muscles knots, especially ones on the back and shoulder blade area. I also enjoyed that they wrapped my feet in hot towels, and that before our massage ended, they wiped off the excess massage oil with more hot towels. It’s usually a bit bothersome for me to have to dress up while still feeling sticky with oil (and I can’t rinse it off because showering right after a massage is bad)—but at Footzone Day Spa, no need to worry about leaving the massage room feeling greasy!
All in all, the experience was a pleasant one and I wouldn’t mind coming back to try the rest of their services. I can see why it’s become a favorite luxury spa in Greenhills—the ambiance and the expertise of their staff ensure you’ll be well taken care of.
