Those who know me well enough know that I’m extremely minimalist when it comes to my jewelry style. My everyday accessories consist of just four things—either dangling pearl earrings or diamond studs (both of which were given to me by my mom), a watch (lately, I’ve been obsessed with my Misfit Shine 2, but I alternate this with an old Cartier Tank from my mom as well), a bracelet (the only bracelet I wear to be honest, which is a limited edition Pandora bangle with a cupcake charm from the Cupcake), and on rare occasions, a ring (most are heirlooms from my grandparents).
I’m not really sure why I don’t like to wear loud or statement pieces, but it must have stemmed from the values that Poveda taught us in grade school and high school. Back then (and I think the rules still apply to this day), we weren’t allowed to wear any kind of jewelry except for a simple watch and a pair of stud earrings. Even our ponytails had to be either black, brown, or white—colors weren’t allowed in our school. If we got caught, it would cause repercussions in our report cards. And I know this because when I was in high school, I used to wear this puca shell necklace (my crush at that time used to wear it all the time), and I got reprimanded by our level coordinator.I think my style is very much reflected in how I dress everyday, including the accessories I wear. But as much as I love simple jewelry, I think it’s fun to play around with statement pieces once in a while. I’ve seen a number of online shops and Instagram sellers showcasing the trendiest pairs of earrings, but nothing suits my style quite like Dahlia’s. The designs all make a statement, but carry a certain sophistication.
The selections are well-curated, starting from my Alana Boho Hoops, which go so well with all my Uniqlo OOTD’s, to their Lily Flower Crystal, another favorite that caught my eye. You can choose from fun and fab, floral, and handmade designs! If you love these kinds of statement pieces, it’s so fun to browse their online shop.
