Support Local Farmers: Earth Kitchen in BGC is Now Open

I haven’t been doing a lot of food posts lately, but I’m glad that I broke the beauty and lifestyle streak (once again) with a restaurant that’s worth visiting, and who’s dishes are still on my mind—particularly the Mushroom Ravioli. But I’ll get to that in a bit.

Last week, my friends and I were treated to a scrumptious feast at the newly-opened branch of Earth Kitchen in BGC.

Earth Kitchen is a restaurant dedicated to supporting local farmers and indigenous communities around the country. Their dishes are crafted to showcase the produce of Got Heart Farms in Tarlac, and partner communities from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

It’s been two years since their first branch was opened in White Plains, Katipunan—and I think it’s timely that they launched their second branch in the vibrant district of Bonifacio Global City, where people really flock to if they’re looking for a good or worthy restaurant to dine in.

This expansion also extends their capacity to serve and give back to all local and indigenous communities that the restaurant has partnered with since they started. It’s because of these farmers that Earth Kitchen is able to provide the best and freshest farm-to-table ingredients—resulting to a one-of-a-kind dining exprience.

During our visit, Pinky Parra of Earth Kitchen insisted that we try all the best-sellers in their menu. This included the Mushroom Spring Rolls (Php 315), Fish and Mango (Php 230), Curried Squash Soup (Php 190), Tempura Salad (Php 330), Scallops and Aligue Pasta (Php 480), Mushroom Ravioli (Php 400), Milanese Risotto (Php 640), Braised Pork Shoulder Soft Tacos (Php 300), Braised Bacon (Php 580), and Beef Kebab (Php 410). For drinks, my friend, Jamel, tried the Got Heart Mix 1 (Php 200), I got the Got Heart Mix 3 (Php 200), and we all enjoyed their best-selling refreshment, a pitcher of Fresh Dalandan Juice (Php 260). Dessert is always something I look forward to, and I thought it was really cool how they had pastillas-flavored ice cream!

The food arrived about 15 to 20 minutes later, so if you’re in a rush to catch a movie or something, I would suggest to find another restaurant instead. The beauty of dining in Earth Kitchen is you can really taste the freshness of the dishes, and you know it was made with a lot of effort and love. If you’re like me and my friends, who enjoy food tripping and catching up over dinner, then I highly recommend trying out Earth Kitchen in BGC.

Of the dishes they served, I really liked the Mushroom Ravioli, which was made with kesong puti (the cheese closest to home!), shiitake, button, and milky mushrooms, pili nuts, and a light cream sauce. I think it was a great mix because the ravioli was incredibly filling but was balanced out real nice by the lightness of the sauce.

The Cupcake couldn’t get enough of the Milanese Risotto. The beef on top was so tender, it almost melts in your mouth.

With organic being a huge trend these days, the group behind Earth Kitchen hopes to sustain the livelihood of marginalized communities and encourage more farmers to produce good, clean, and healthy food—without the use of genetically-modified organisms, chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, and harmful inputs like petroleum-based urea, herbicides, and pesticides. Everything in the restaurant is made from scratch, and though some people think the prices are a bit high, I disagree. I think the prices are just right given the generous servings, plus think of it this way: you’re also helping out and supporting local farmers in different areas of the country!
