Best Toners for Oily Skin

As someone who suffered from oily skin growing up, I know how much of a hassle it can be—especially when my face breaks out and it takes weeks before my skin clears up again! Nowadays, however, after growing out of that ugly duckling phase (hopefully forever) and having discovered the best toners for oily skin thanks to years of experience and experimentation, I can honestly vouch for the following products below.

I’ll be updating this list, should I experiment with new toners. But so far, these (for me) are the best in the market. Hopefully when you get the chance to try them, it solves your oily skin problems forever—just like it did for me!

1. Avene Eau Thermale Cleanance Lotion Toner – Php 1,612

I wrote a thorough review about this product here. I’ve been using it for two years now, and I’m still amazed at how it has helped clear up my skin and lessened the oiliness. I use it in the morning, right before putting on sunblock. I swear, this product does wonders! For it to take full effect, I highly recommend using it with the Cleanance Gel as your facial wash. You can get it from any Watsons or Mercury Drug branch.

2. Celeteque Acne Solutions Toner - Php 117.00

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, this toner does its job really well—and for only Php 117.00! (The smaller one is priced at Php 75.00). I have to admit though—the first time I bought it, I was really hesitant because I didn’t expect it to work. I even thought it might cause my skin to break out. But I’ve read a lot of reviews about it, and I told myself it was worth a try. Six months later, and I haven’t been disappointed at all. I just finished my second bottle, where I alternate it with Avene Eau Thermale Cleanance Lotion Toner (I use Celeteque at night). My only real concerns are the strong scent of alcohol, and that the back of the bottle doesn’t contain the ingredients. I’m usually the type to really read through the ingredients first before buying something. Celeteque was the only one I made an exception for.

3. Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner for Oily and Troubled Skin – Php 875.00

I’ve only started using this for two weeks, but based on the reviews I’ve read and the recommendations I’ve heard from fellow beauty bloggers, this is one toner that works miracles. The best thing about it is that it’s made by Burt’s Bees, which uses all-natural ingredients. What I love about it? The smell! The scent is so refreshing, that it makes me look forward to doing my skin regimen every night. You can get these at any Burt’s Bees stall inside Beauty Bar, or visit www.shop.beautybar.com.ph.

4. Obagi’s Clenziderm Pore Therapy - not sure of the price

Obagi’s Clenziderm Pore Therapy belongs to a set (pretty much like Avene Eeu Thermale), but I only used the toner for two years. This was incredibly helpful in getting rid of acne, but it’s a little strong so I wouldn’t recommend it for people with really sensitive skin. (My Ninang used it for a while, and it irritated her skin.) This is available in any House of Obagi branch.

5. Proactiv Revitalizing Toner - comes in a set for Php 3,995

I used this back in high school, just because I bought a couple of sets when I was in the US. (It comes with a Repairing Cleanser and a Repairing Treatment). I also know of a friend who used it and it cleared up her skin pretty good. Thankfully, this is now made available by Watsons.

There you have it! Those are a few toners I’ve tried throughout the years, and that I would really recommend to women who suffer from the same skin problems as I do. If you have any questions, or would like to recommend your own toners for oily skin, leave a comment below! I’d love to hear them.
