Delicato: A New Gourmet Sausage Experience in the Philippines

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to another article on Greta’s Junkyard, a blog I started in 2013 that serves as a dump of my favorite things. These include mostly topics on fashion, beauty, travel, home, and lifestyle. Occasionally, I also write about food and new restaurants. If you’re a new reader, my name is Gretchen Gatan Fragada.

I’m a writer and editor based in Quezon City. Additionally, I’m the founder and editor-in-chief of The Metro Edit, your curated source of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle in the Metro. On top of being a career woman, I’m a wife to Cayo, a fur mom to Booboo and Bellatrix, and a first-time mom to a toddler daughter named Cambria. Recently, my dad, Cambria, and I had the pleasure of attending the launch of Delicato in the Philippines.

Delicato is a Singaporean gourmet sausage brand known for the premium quality of its meat while still being affordable. Currently, Delicato is available in SM Supermarkets as well as S&R.

A Deli Delightful Brunch

The launch took form in an intimate brunch held at Jones All Day in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City. As a food enthusiast, it was exciting to see Chef Kalel Chan whipping up some mouth-watering dishes using Delicato sausages. Each bite was a delightful surprise, showing off just how versatile and high-quality these sausages are.

My dad and I enjoyed the Mimosas and a generous Charcuterie Board while talking to some of the guests. When the main dishes arrived, we were so surprised with the serving size! The Croque Madam and Potato Hash were such a creative way to show how you can use Delicato sausages in different recipes.

Five Exciting Flavors

There are five flavors to choose from and though I liked them all, my top two would have to be the Truffle Cheese and Smoked.

  1. Cheddar: This sausage was bursting with rich, creamy cheddar. It was like comfort food elevated to gourmet status. I think kids, in particular, will like this!
  2. Truffle Cheese: The truffle added a luxurious aroma and depth of flavor that paired perfectly with the cheese. It was decadent and unforgettable.
  3. Hot and Spicy: For those who love a kick of heat, this one was perfect. It balanced spice with a full-bodied flavor. I’m not normally into spicy food but I was able to tolerate the spice of this one.
  4. Smoked: The smoky flavor was deep and satisfying, reminiscent of traditional sausage-making techniques. It was hearty and delicious.
  5. Mixed Herbs: This sausage was fragrant and fresh, thanks to the blend of herbs. It was a light yet flavorful option that stood out.

Delicato: A Taste of Singapore Now in the Philippines

Bringing a taste of Singapore to the Philippines, there’s no doubt that Delicato will become a beloved brand among local foodies. The quality and flavor of these sausages are exceptional, and I’m already looking forward to incorporating them into my own cooking.
