The Story Behind My JORD Ely Watch

A couple of months ago, JORD’s Team reached out to me and asked if they could send me a watch to feature on the blog. I was more than ecstatic, especially after seeing the designs on their website.

I decided to go for the Ely in Natural Green, because it seemed like a really timeless piece that would go well with my sense of style.  JORD also customized the watch based on the size of my wrist.

I love how JORD watches aren’t just about telling the time—they’re also about telling a story. Each hand-crafted wooden timepiece is modeled after a modern lifestyle, with its founders (a group of artists, designers, marketers, and minders) valuing sustainability, efficiency, and experiential living. They made their watches for people who don’t just have somewhere to be, but also somewhere to go.

JORD watches are also about starting a conversation, because the team behind it believes that moments are bigger than minutes and their watches should be able to tell more than time.

It’s a beautiful story behind a unique and creative brand. I honestly feel so honored to be owning a JORD watch—especially with the stories I can share because of it. 1.) That it was given to me to be featured on Greta’s Junkyard, and 2.) That it was held at customs for two weeks because customs required me to pay tax for it. (I swear, I hate how corrupt our country is.)

Though the latter story may not be as positive as the first, it’s still a conversation starter and at the end of the day, I can proudly say that I still have a JORD watch that tells two memorable stories, and that I’m sure will create more memories as I wear it.

When it comes to accessories, I’m a minimalist and I only alternate two watches (both of which were handed down to me by my mom and grandmother). But the modern designs of JORD’s wooden watches are the kind I would wear with my outfits, simply because they look so classic and pretty.
