I think it’s pretty understandable that some people find it a struggle to eat and drink healthy—luckily, I’m one of those who find it easy because of my genuine love for fruits, veggies, and fresh juices (I have my mom to thank for this). I’m also addicted to the feeling of keeping my body healthy, because when you have a healthy body, it’s much easier to work and be productive.

It all started with a young, power couple’s passion for living a healthy lifestyle—creating a variety of vegetable detox concoctions and preparing healthy meals that complement them. This was the inspiration behind setting up their business, to allow them to share their passion and encourage Filipinos to embrace a healthier and happier lifestyle.
After only six months of operating their main branch in Eastwood, they opened an even bigger branch in Tuscany McKinley Hill, and a year later, in Westgate Alabang and Shangri-La Mall. In the short span that Detoxify Bar has been juicing, it successfully sparked a positive improvement in kids, athletes, young professionals, yoga moms, the elderly, and people from all walks of life.
I had the pleasure of meeting the tandem behind Detoxify Bar, Paul and Joy, last Saturday when they officially launched Detoxify Bar in Shangri-La Mall. I love how simple their philosophy is: that people have to feed their bodies the nutrition it needs to sustain their extremely demanding lifestyles, thus they aim to meet those needs by providing a place to enjoy real, healthy beverages and food packed with essential micronutrients. They don’t aim to be skinny—they aim to be healthy! And if there’s one thing we’ve seen in trends today, skinny is no longer considered as sexy—strong, fit and healthy are the new sexy.
What makes Detoxify Bar different is that they’re not just a store—they offer a lifestyle. They were the first organic juice bar in the country, and the first to bring the experience of fresh-pressed juices to dining customers.
It was so exciting to attend the launch in Shangri-La with the Cupcake, because he’s not the biggest fan of healthy food and I wanted to change that perception. We were served a number of very delicious and fulfilling dishes, and generous bottles of fresh-pressed juices. The Cupcake surprisingly finished his Minty Berry Detox, while I couldn’t decide which one I liked more: the Green Vegan Detox or the Orange Detox. Both tasted equally good.
I’ve tried doing a juice cleanse before, and I struggled due to the taste. Since then, I had this impression that juicing wasn’t as yummy as I thought it would be. I was so surprised that Detoxify Bar’s juices were not only easy to drink, they tasted refreshing as well! I look forward to doing my juice cleanse with them soon, because I have a feeling it’ll be more exciting and a lot easier to do.
