The Ordinary Caffeine Solution Review

In all the years I’ve been obsessed with skincare (I think it’s safe to say it’s been almost a decade), I have yet to find an eye cream that works. Not that my previous eye creams never worked—I’ve had my fair share of trying different products from Burt’s Bees, L’Oreal, Innisfree, and Kiehl’s. But now that I’m about to turn 30, I’ve become more conscious of my eye area, because I’m starting to see laugh lines that to be honest, are sort of hitting the insecurity button.

I mean, I know it’s all part of aging and I’m sure I’ll slowly come to accept that, but at the moment and while I can, I’m all for anything to slow down the aging process.

Which brings me to trying to find an eye cream that will target puffiness and dark under eyes (they usually come out whenever I read fanfics until the wee hours of the morning and I end up sleeping for less than six hours), PLUS will prevent fine lines and wrinkles. When I finished off the Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream that my sister gave me a few months ago (without really noticing how effective it was), I came across The Ordinary Caffeine Solution on Calyxta. And if you’re well-versed in the world of beauty, you’ll know that The Ordinary has been one of the hottest and most talked about brands in the market. Their products are very affordable yet highly effective, and because of that reasoning, I decided to try it out for myself. I bought their Caffeine Solution and have been using it for maybe three months now, and so far, I haven’t really noticed any improvement on my dark under eyes. But I do remember, especially during the first two or three weeks that I was using it, was how I felt a tingling (almost throbbing) sensation after I applied it—which made me believe it was working! I would take the dropper, squeeze out just a drop or two, and use my ring fingers to gently spread the product all over my under eye area.

During the day, especially when I feel really haggard at work, I’d always be surprised that I don’t look as bad as I feel. Hahaha! Does that make sense? So I always attributed it to the theory that maybe the product was working in terms of targeting puffy eyes. As for targeting dark circles and preventing fine lines and wrinkles, I can’t really say anything yet.

Packaging-wise, I’m a little iffy that sometimes, the product tends to dry up around the mouth area. So I always make sure to clean it up right after every use. Other than that, I think this does its promise of targeting puffiness but not immediately, the dark circles or pigmentation. And in terms of preventing fine lines and wrinkles, the product doesn’t exactly promise to do that, so maybe I need to look for an alternative eye cream that does. If ever, I’ll probably use The Ordinary Caffeine Solution in the morning, and the anti-aging eye cream at night.

For the price you pay, I think it’s pretty good considering that a little goes a long way when it comes to applying this product. I have a feeling, given that I use it twice a day, I’ll finish this by July or August 2019. But that’s just a guess-timate.

I wasn’t able to take before and after photos of myself, but below are photos I posted on Instagram before November 2018 (when I started using the product) and my most recent picture! It’s not the best comparison, but hopefully it’ll do.
