Hi, everyone! Welcome to another article on Greta’s Junkyard. If you’re new, my name is Gretchen Gatan Fragada. I’m a writer and editor based in Quezon City. I’m also the founder and editor-in-chief of The Metro Edit, your curated source of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle in and around Metro Manila. Greta’s Junkyard started in September 2013 and serves as a dump of my favorite things.
These include articles about beauty, travel, pet care, and more. Aside from being a go-getter with my career, I’m a wife to Cayo, a fur mom to Booboo and Bellatrix, and a girl mom to a toddler named Cambria. Since I launched my blog 11 years ago, it’s been a tradition of mine to celebrate its anniversary with an exciting giveaway. When I started Greta’s Junkyard in September 2013, it was meant to be a creative outlet as I went from working for a digital marketing agency to several beauty brands and eventually, a few online magazines. Throughout my career, it was the one place that made me feel safest and my most authentic self. Through Greta’s Junkyard, I was able to document life as I got older. And it’s also through Greta’s Junkyard that I’m able to land incredible opportunities to this day — from traveling and going on exciting adventures and experiences!
That also includes taking a huge risk last year and leaving my full-time job to be able to balance taking care of Cambria and focusing on my other passion projects. The decision made me a little nervous but nowadays, I still have to pinch myself because of how much my blog has given me and continues to sustain me. I’ll always and forever be grateful — to Cayo (who’s not even an IT but is just a genius that way) for building and maintaining my blog for me, to my family and friends for the unconditional love and encouragement, to all the brands for trusting me, and to the sweetest readers for still supporting me 11 years later. I truly, truly appreciate you all.
