Simple Makeup Look During the Quarantine

Recently, I joined Jake Galvez, my bridal makeup artist and founder of The Creativ Project, and Tasha Santos of Benefit Cosmetics, in a free webinar discussing the state of beauty during COVID-19 and the future transformation of the beauty and cosmetics industry.

Before the webinar, I was inspired to do a full-faced makeup look to mentally prepare myself for a discussion on beauty.

It was my first time to do a complete look in more than two months, and I have to say that besides being a little rusty in applying my falsies, I really missed playing with color and painting my face!

Below is a quick video of how I achieved this simple look during the quarantine. I also listed the steps and products, and where to buy them online.

SKINCARE

To prep my skin, I used Avene’s Thermal Spring Water (straight from the refrigerator!) and misted it all over my face before letting it dry. I then sprayed Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater then let my skin absorb it.

For my lips, I always make sure to moisturize them daily with Vaseline’s Lip Therapy in Cocoa Butter.

PRIMER AND FOUNDATION

Using my fingers, I gently spread Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer before dotting my face all over with Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation in Warm Creme. With a beauty sponge, I blended the foundation and evened it out with a paddle brush for a flawless finish.

CONCEALER AND HIGHLIGHTER

NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard has been my holy grail since 2015. I use it to conceal and highlight the area under my eyes, my forehead, nose, and cupid’s bow. Using the same beauty sponge, I blended it out until it looked seamless on my skin.

CREAM BLUSH AND SETTING POWDER

Because I used Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Haze (which is a cream blush), I dabbed it on the apples of my cheeks (be sure not to swipe, because it might move your foundation!) right before setting my face with RCMA’s No-Color Powder.

BROWS

For my brows, I filled them in with K-Palette’s Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner in Natural Brown and brushed them with a spoolie for a natural-looking finish.

EYES

I played around with three colors from the limited edition NARS’ Skin Deep Eye Palette (Undressed as my base, Whipped as my definition, and Calendar Girl for shimmer) to create a subtle brown smoky eye. I then used the shade, Basic Instinct, to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.

I added falsies for drama, curled my lashes, and swiped a few coats of L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise Mascara. After, I created a subtle wing and tight-lined using K-Palette’s Real Lasting Eyeliner in Super Black.

CONTOUR AND HIGHIGHT

My camera ran out of battery, so I wasn’t able to show how I contoured my face with The Balm’s Desert Bronzer/Blusher, and highlighted with W7’s Glowcomotion. To contour, I used an angled brush and applied shadows right under my cheek bones, the sides of my forehead, under my jawline, and the sides of my nose. I then used a fan brush to highlight the high points of my cheeks, tip of my nose, and cupid’s bow.

LIPSTICK

For my lipstick, I swiped on Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita.

SETTING SPRAY

To complete my look, I sprayed NYX Cosmetics’ Matte Finish Setting Spray.

I had so much fun doing this look, and I hope you enjoyed or learned something as well! If you have any questions, feel free to send them in the comments and I’ll be sure to answer them right away!
