I don’t really know why I was never really into lip tints or lip stains. I think it’s because my obsession with matte liquid lipsticks just wouldn’t wither, and I unknowingly closed myself off to other types of lip products. That is, until Club Clio sent over Peripera’s Airy Ink Velvets, which came with a 5-star recommendation from good friend, Angel Feliciano of Pinkoolaid.
com.The moment I got them, I knew I had to swatch them right away. I was drawn towards Elf Light Rose the most, so this sort of became my go-to shade. The first time I tried it, I was instantly amazed at how light it felt. Like it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any lip tint at all! It’s extremely comfortable to wear, and it lasts all day, too. I guess when you’re so used to wearing matte liquid lipsticks, the difference in lightness and comfort can really be felt.
My trick in making it transfer-proof is after applying it and letting it sit for a few minutes, I blot my lips on tissue paper a few times. That way, it dries up and you’re guaranteed a kiss-proof finish. If you’re not sold on how long lasting it is, I wore it early morning (around 6am) before an Ultimate Frisbee tournament and by the end of the last game at around 5pm, it was still there. In fact, when I swatched all five shades on my arm for a few minutes and tried washing it off with my best makeup remover (Biore’s oil-based makeup remover), there were still stains left on my arm that didn’t completely wash off until I took a bath.
Another beauty of this lip tint that I discovered is that you can wear lip balm on top of it as many times, and it will stay. It won’t transfer to your lip balm at all. Plus, if you’re in a hurry to do your makeup, it can double as a cheek tint—which is precisely what I did one Sunday evening before going to mass.
Since I’ve had these lip tints, it’s been so exciting to just choose which color to wear for the day. I can wear one shade, or mix two and create a pretty, ombre finish. Either way, they add a nice flush of color that’s more natural-looking compared to lipstick or lip gloss.
Peripera’s Airy Ink Velvets are sold for only Php 450 each.
