Natural Beauty Made Fun with Aloe Derma

I was first introduced to Aloe Derma because of my mom, who came home one day with a shopping bag from Watsons. She told me about a brand she discovered that looked promising, and took out Aloe Derma’s Natural Shampoo and Nourishing Hair Conditioner.

My mom is a fan of all things natural and organic, especially when it comes to hair and skincare.

And because I inherited her fine hair, we usually experiment together on products that can keep our hair healthy, make it thicker, and prevent hair fall. So far, she’s been happy with the results of Aloe Derma, so I know it’s a brand to watch out for.

Coincidentally, Aloe Derma is available in Glamourbox’s online boutique (to my mom’s delight). A friend of mine works as their Brand and Marketing Manager, and gave me the Aloe Derma #MakeYourSummer Kit to try. Seeing the ingredients got me so excited, because I knew it was going to be a do-it-yourself kit I could have fun with at home.

The kit included seven items—organic extra virgin oil, organic coco sugar, organic Aloe Vera gel by Aloe Derma, organic wild honey, rolled oats, a face towel, and Aloe Vera Juice by Aloe Vera.

It also came with suggested recipes like a Healing Hair Mask, Moisturizing Sugar Scrub, Soothing Mask for Dry Skin, and Honey Mask for Oily Skin. But of course, you can be extra creative and come up with your own recipes! You can even try adding other natural products you can find at home like cucumber (which tightens pores, fades freckles, and improves complexion), lemon (which absorbs oil and can be used for oily hair or skin), egg (which strengthens hair), yogurt (which prevents infection and fights bacteria that causes acne), and avocado (which strengthens hair and adds moisture to dry skin).

Because I have oily skin, I tried making the Honey Mask. It smelled so good, I was so tempted to eat it. Preparation was really quick. I applied the mask generously on my face, and let it sit for ten minutes. I then washed it off with lukewarm water, and used the facial towel that came with the kit.

Other than face masks, aloe vera is also great at healing sunburns. We keep an entire bottle of aloe vera gel in our refrigerator because whenever I come home from whole-day ultimate frisbee tournaments, I’d consume loads of aloe vera gel that I would apply on my face, neck and shoulders. It’s also great at healing insect bites, minor cuts, scratches, rashes, enzema, and chicken skin.

Aloe Derma is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Organic Basket, which was founded by Bettina Osmena and Bingbing Quiros in 2011. The company’s vision is to deliver only the best organic products to an ever-growing health-conscious consumer. Their products contain the highest concentration of aloe vera, and apart from shampoo, conditioner, gel and other body and hair care products, they also have skin care lines such as the Oil Control and Acne Removing Series, Soothing and Repairing Series, Sun Block Protection Series, Skin Rejuvenating Series, and Skin Brightening Series.
