Skincare Routine for Oily Skin: The Latest Products I’m Using

If you follow me on Instagram, I posted a series of stories using the newest blush from Maybelline, Cheek Heat. After that, a lot of people messaged to ask what my current skincare routine was! I then realized that my last update was July 2020 when I wrote about products for oily skin that I’ve been using for years.

So I thought it was time I updated it because I’ve emptied so many products since then. I decided to try products that were sent over by different brands this time. I’ve been really happy with my skin lately, and I can only attribute it to these new products and supplements. It’s my first time using most except for Clinique’s Pore Refining Serum, Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair, Innisfree’s Jeju Orchid Eye Cream, and Shiseido’s The Collagen. Keep reading to know my latest skincare routine for oily skin!

I’ve linked the products mentioned to online shops where you can buy them. Some products may feature an affiliate link where I get commissioned to help me maintain my blog.

Daytime Skincare Routine for Oily Skin

My daytime skincare routine is shorter than my evening one because I’m usually in a hurry every morning.

CLEANSER: Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash

I’ve been using Avene’s Cleanance Soapless Gel Cleanser since I was in college. I think this may be my first time trying something else! But so far, I’m loving Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash. I was hesitant at first because I read mixed reviews online. However, I’ve been using this for almost two months and I haven’t experienced any breakouts nor negative reactions. I’m a huge fan of the scent, too! One pump is enough to clean my whole face. It comes out in a gel-like form but when you lather it, it starts to foam up. Like Avene, this product from Kiehl’s is able to control my oily skin.

TONER: Cetaphil Brightness Refresh Toner

Another product I’ve been using for years is Avene’s Cleanance MAT Toner. But for the sake of saving up and also trying something new, I tested Cetaphil’s Brightness Refresh Toner, which the brand gave a few months ago. It’s rich in niacinamide, which helps even out the skin tone. The consistency is very light and similar to water. I apply it with my bare hands just like how Koreans do it. It’s so light that it gets easily absorbed by my skin. I only need to wait a few seconds before moving on to the next step.

SERUM: Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum

This is part of my OG skincare routine but I’m running out of it already. I really like how this product has an almost matte finish, unlike other serums that feel greasy. It gets absorbed fast as well. Since this targets pores, I apply more of it on my nose since the pores on my nose are larger due to my oily T-zone.

EYE CREAM AND MOISTURIZER: AHC The Real Eye Cream for Face

To be honest, when I first got this product from the brand, I was a little confused by its name. Do I use it on my eye area or my whole face? But after doing some research and reading reviews online, I discovered that it can be both. Since the consistency of this is lighter and gel-like, I decided to use it as my eye cream for the day (as opposed to a heavier eye cream that I use every night). On days when my face feels dry, which normally happens when I’m in an airconditioned room for a long time, I use it on the rest of my face.

SUNSCREEN: Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen

Prior to using Anessa, I was a big fan of Biore’s Perfect Milk. But because Anessa had almost the same consistency as Biore (minus the powdery matte finish), I gave it a go as well. It instantly became a favorite! So now, I can alternate it with Biore depending on the availability.

Evening Skincare Routine for Oily Skin

Since I have more time at night, I like to indulge myself in a more thorough skincare routine.

CLEANSER: Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash + Foreo LUNA 2

For my evening skincare routine for oily skin, I use the same cleanser except that I also use Foreo’s LUNA 2 with it. This facial cleanser and firming massager features soft silicone touch points and T-Sonic technology to lift away dirt, oil, and excess sebum. On the other hand, the firming massage feature leaves skin smoother and softer. I like to use both features whenever I cleanse my face and apply serums and essences.

TONER: AHC 365 Red Toner

I was first introduced to AHC because of the global agency I worked for who had them as a client. The brand sent over their line of 365 Red, which I’ve been using for a few months now. One is their 365 Red Toner, which has Egyptian red hibiscus flower extract, Vitamin B12, and anti-oxidants to hydrate, brighten, and provide total care.

Similar to how I apply my daytime toner, I use my hands as well. I use about 3 to 4 pumps every night. The consistency is in between watery and gel-like and it does have a faint red color because of the Egyptian red hibiscus!

SERUM 1: Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum

I recently attended the launch e-vent of Good Molecules in the Philippines. It’s a brand created by global beauty source, Beautylish, and distributed locally by Painted Ladies Cosmetics. Good Molecules is all about effective, science-based skincare that’s affordable—which piqued my interest! Since I ran out of my COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence, I decided to try Good Molecules’ Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Ever since I added hyaluronic acid to my skincare routine again, my skin felt softer and plumper.

SERUM 2: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum

One serum I started using last year that I instantly became obsessed with is Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum. I just love how good my skin looked after I added it to my evening skincare routine. Though it’s expensive, it’s definitely worth the investment.

EYE CREAM: Innisfree Jeju Orchid Eye Cream

The first time I used Innisfree’s Jeju Orchid Eye Cream was in 2016 when my sister brought it home from Korea as a gift. At that time, Innisfree wasn’t easily available in the Philippines yet. Because I ran out of my Kiehl’s eye cream last year, I decided to buy Innisfree’s eye cream during one of my BeautyMnl hauls. It’s infused with Precious Orchid Elixir 2.0 to strengthen, tone, and smoothen thin and sensitive skin around the eye area. On top of that, it reduces wrinkles and increases elasticity. Since this cream is a lot heavier than AHC’s The Real Eye Cream for Face, I use this every night.

MOISTURIZER: AHC 365 Red Cream

Before AHC, my moisturizer was Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. What I like about the packaging of AHC’s 365 Red Cream is that it comes in a jar but you pump it down to get some product. I find this very hygienic and convenient as opposed to dipping your finger inside or using a scooper that needs to be cleaned right after. I think the only challenge would be emptying it out since I’ll eventually have to remove the pump part. Like the toner, the 365 Red Cream is also made with Egyptian red hibiscus. It’s a total care cream with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients for a smoother and even-toned complexion. It’s not as heavy as I expected, which I like, and it does its job of sealing all my products in.

SKINCARE TOOL: Gua sha

Apart from using Foreo’s LUNA 3 to massage my serums in, I use a Gua sha as the very last step to massage my face. Gua sha is part of traditional Chinese medicine to stimulate blood flow and promote metabolic cell repair and regeneration. Apart from these benefits, I find it really relaxing! I’m not sure how effective it is in sculpting or contouring, but I do it every other night because it feels good.

Supplements I’ve Been Taking as Part of My Routine

Wolvit Biotin

Biotin is a supplement that I’ve been drinking for years, but it’s my first time trying the brand Wolvit. I even attended their e-vent and wrote about the benefits of biotin. More than keeping my hair and nails strong, I do believe that it’s doing wonders for my skin.

Shiseido the Collagen

Another supplement I’ve been taking for years is Shiseido the Collagen. I attended their launch in 2017 as well! They have three variants but my preferred one is the tablet form. It’s easier for me to remember taking since I drink it together with biotin and the rest of my vitamins every day.

There you have it! My latest skincare routine for oily skin. If you have any questions about the products, do post them in the comment section so I can answer right away. If you know anyone who has oily skin, share this article with them. Until my next skincare routine update!
