The name Strokes Beauty Lab might ring a bell if you visit my blog often. That’s because back in 2019, I wrote a thorough review on their KeraLift, which I became so obsessed with. I had it done right before our engagement shoot, and also before our wedding. If things were back to the old normal, I’d probably still get a KeraLift done every other month.
I love how I no longer need to curl my lashes nor apply mascara—which cuts my makeup time so much shorter! All I have to do is wear my favorite lipstick and cheek tint, and fill in my brows.Speaking of brows, Strokes Beauty Lab recently launched a drool-worthy brow collection. I was so thrilled to have received the products as a gift from the brand a few weeks ago, and because I watched my good friend’s video review of it (check out Marj Maroket‘s video below!), I decided to try it out for myself.
For my look, I used two products from Strokes Beauty Lab: the Microblade Pen Perfector in Bronzite (P498) and the Brow Colorist in Neutral Brown (P358).
Packaging
The packaging looked and felt premium—from the box down to the product itself. And I didn’t expect any less from Strokes. They always had that sophisticated feel to their brand, and I definitely saw this in their brow collection. What surprised me how was heavy the products felt after I took them out of their boxes. They weighed a lot more than the brow products I’m used to, which may be a good thing if this means each one contains more. I guess I’ll have to see how quickly I finish these products compared to my holy grails. For example, with the Glossier Boy Brow (which has such a tiny packaging)—if I used it every day, I’d probably finish it in less than two months. Meanwhile, K-Palette’s Lasting Eyebrow Pen lasts me about a month (if used every day).
Pigment
Another thing that took me by surprise was how pigmented the Microblade Pen Perfector was. The tip was so fine, it made it so easy for me to draw hair-like strokes. Between this and K-Palette, I actually find this to be more pigmented. And you all know how much I love my K-Palette! I guess what I want to know next is how long the Microblade Pen Perfector will last—especially on a hot and humid day. I’ve tried and tested K-Palette for years. I’ve played Ultimate Frisbee wearing K-Palette—and I know for a fact that it doesn’t budge. So I guess I need to road test Strokes Beauty Lab’s products a bit more.
If you watched Marj’s review, she had her own sentiments on the Brow Colorist and Brow Fixer. I wasn’t able to try the Brow Fixer, but I did try the Brow Colorist. I thought it would add more color to my brows similar to Etude House’s Color My Brows, but it didn’t. However, it did give my brows a more brushed up look. If you like brow tints that aren’t so heavy on color or pigment, you might like the Brow Colorist and the subtle effect it gives.
Price
Okay, based on the packaging and the quality of the Microblade Pen Perfector, I am amazed that it’s priced below P500. It’s the perfect dupe for K-Palette, if you find K-Palette too pricey. It really all boils down to how long-lasting the product is. But if we were to base it on just my first impressions, I think Strokes Beauty Lab’s is worth trying!
