Hi, everyone! Happy New Year! I was looking at my most recent blog posts, and I realized that I only wrote one for December. So sorry for being MIA! The holidays became so busy, and on top of that, the Cupcake and I decided to spend almost two weeks in Quezon City with our families (Read: Life Lately: The Fraggy Four + Living in Our Studio Unit in Makati).
We took turns sleeping over his parents’ house and mine. In between Christmas and New Year, my family planned a joint trip with the Cupcake’s (we’re dubbed the FraGatans!), where we spent a few days in my lola’s beach house in Zambales playing games, drinking wine, and enjoying the waves and each other’s company.Anyway, life has been very—domesticated. Haha! I thought living right next to where I work would give me more time for the blog, but it turns out—it’s either there are chores to do, or I’m too tired after doing chores that I choose to just relax and watch a show on Netflix. The same can be said for my fitness situation—I haven’t played Ultimate since May, and the one time I worked out in our condo’s gym was because we had no Internet for a week. I’m hoping to change that this year—especially now that the Cupcake and I have adjusted to our Makati life!
On the upside, living close to home means so much more time with Booboo and Bellatrix. The Cupcake and I genuinely enjoy taking care of them, and we’ve even established daily routines with both. Part of that routine is feeding them, giving them their vitamins (in Booboo’s case, his hip and joint supplements because he started showing early signs of arthritis, and his vet recommended it), and bringing Booboo downstairs for his potty time (he refuses to pee or poop in our unit even though we have pee pads available for him).
Of course, having pets entails buying weekly or monthly supplies of food, treats, and supplements. Sometimes, we would buy them whenever we had time to do the grocery (which is usually a monthly schedule). So our alternative is to shop them online! Below are tried and tested shops where I buy Booboo and Bellatrix’s food and supplies:
Pet Warehouse was a huge help when we first moved into our unit. If you follow me on Instagram, I shared stories about how it took Booboo a long time before adjusting to his new environment. To help with this, I bought him toys to keep him busy, and calming supplements to ease his separation anxiety every time we left for work.
They have a chat box where you can easily message an agent to ask for assistance or suggestions. Recently, I bought a water fountain with replacement filter pads for Bellatrix (our vet recommended this since cats have a tendency to drink more from moving water as opposed to still water in a bowl), dog food for senior dogs (Royal Canin Vet Care Nutrition Mature Small Dog), and cat food for indoor cats (Royal Canin Feline Indoor Cat Dry Food). I’m expecting the package this week, and I’m so excited to set up the water fountain!
Lastly, and perhaps my favorite thing about Pet Warehouse, is that they’re partners with PAWS, Animal Rescue PH, and CARA. You can choose to donate to these organizations through the site, which I think is awesome!
After Booboo’s latest check-up with his vet and discovering that he was already developing early signs of arthritis, his vet recommended that I start giving him hip and joint supplements. I first tried to check in Bow and Wow, but their brands were way out of my budget. Pet Warehouse didn’t have any, so I resorted to checking Lazada and Shopee.
In my search, I discovered House of Sioco Pet Supplies. Their store was well-reviewed on Shopee, and I loved that they were so responsive. Like Pet Warehouse, they have a very extensive portfolio of products for both cats and dogs. I was able to buy hip and joint supplements, multivitamins, some treats, and a toy for Bella.
Whenever I need an outfit for Booboo, I just message Best Paws Shop on Facebook to ask if they have it. This was where I bought his barong for mine and the Cupcake’s wedding, and also where I purchased a Santa Claus hoodie (for Christmas) and a tuxedo (for the Gatsby-themed Christmas party of Calyxta).
Part of Booboo’s adjustment when we moved was being extra, extra picky with his food. He didn’t want to eat his regular kibble, and so I had to look for other options. I discovered BidaBest Pet Food after someone recommended it, and I easily ordered online. I tried two variants first to see if Booboo would like it—and he did! Sometimes, I would serve it on its own. But most of the time, I’d mix it with his kibble. My last order was two months’ worth, so I still have one container left.
