Greta’s Junkyard Turns 7: A Major Launch + A Giveaway to Celebrate!

This September officially marks the 7th birthday of GretasJunkyard.com. Who would have thought that an emo Tumblr I started in 2009 would eventually become an official blog in 2013, and to what it is today? I can still remember the past Greta’s Junkyard anniversary celebrations like it was yesterday!

All the Greta’s Junkyard Anniversary celebrations through the years…

I wasn’t able to celebrate the blog’s 6th anniversary, because September 2019 was a huge month in my personal life (I got married! You can read all about it here). As much as I would have wanted to make it up this year by throwing another celebration and spending time with you all, the pandemic put a halt to these plans. For now, I’d rather that we all do our parts in helping fight this virus by staying at home, practicing social distancing, wearing our masks properly at all times whenever we head out to do important errands, and washing our hands often.

Welcome to Greta’s Junk Shop

To commemorate this special milestone of Greta’s Junkyard, I thought it was about time that she evolved into something bigger. And so aside from redesigning her look to symbolize her “growing up” from a quirky, little girl to a more mature young lady (did you guys notice that in the logo?), I’m beyond thrilled to finally launch Greta’s Junk Shop: a curation of my favorite things!

To be honest, this project has been sitting in my Trello board for years. The e-commerce section was always there (hidden) since 2016 (thanks to Cayo who as usual, worked on it as soon as I mentioned the idea of wanting to grow the blog further), but I just never really had the time nor energy.

But leaving corporate this second time around gave me the opportunity to focus on all my passion projects—from helping my mom run Mama Jessie’s Kesong Puti, to writing more for the blog, to this one! It took a lot of fun evenings finding suppliers and curating what I wanted to sell, studying the backend of the shop, doing inventory, producing my own product descriptions, images, and graphics (while enlisting my sister, cousins, and brother’s girlfriend to be models), applying for permits, ensuring the site’s security, and basically doing everything as a two-man team (with the logistics help of my mom and brother). But when you’re working on something you really love, you won’t even notice how quickly time flies. These past few weeks, I’ve been sleeping almost every night at 4am without even realizing it.

I hope you can all support this new venture of mine! Click here to see what’s in store. Each product has a backstory in the description, plus I’ll be adding more products in the coming weeks! Hope you can also like Greta’s Junkyard on Facebook, and follow @gretasjunkshop on Instagram. As a special treat to everyone, I’m giving away a curation of different items from Greta’s Junk Shop (plus a few beauty products)! This includes the following:

Before I end, I just want to thank everyone again for your support. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without you guys by my side. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. And here’s to many more years of sharing my stories and the things I love through Greta’s Junkyard.
