A Review on St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub

I was doing the grocery with my dad and my sister one time when I discovered this product. Actually, it was more of my sister getting it from one of the shelves, and introducing it to me. “I use this,” she said. “I think it made my pores smaller and it improved my skin.”

My ears perked up upon hearing this, of course.

“Really?”

That day, we came home with two—one for my sister, and one for me.

The grocery is perhaps one of the least likely places I’ll find a skincare product, not for anything really—but mainly because all of the products I use in my skincare routine are found in Watsons or Beauty Bar. St. Ives is a brand you can find just about anywhere, which is convenient! It’s also really affordable.

Because of the feedback from my sister, I decided to try it out. I’ve been testing it for two months now, where I use it to exfoliate my skin twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday evenings). I must admit that it has impressed me. My skin always feels soft and smooth even until the next day. I don’t expect it to actually minimize my pores, but what I’m hoping it does is that it strips off the dead layer of skin cells for my other products to be absorbed faster—pretty much like what diamond peel does for me.

As you can see (and as one would expect from an exfoliating scrub), the texture is thick and grainy. It’s not rough on the skin though—not like some scrubs where your face kind of feels like it’s burning after.

I guess the only thing I don’t like about it is the smell of apricot—it smells similar to peaches, and I’m not a big fan of peach scents. Other than that, I think I’m going to keep using it! I think it’s an effective alternative to Avene Eau Thermale—I just wouldn’t recommend that you use it everyday because it might dry up your skin.
