6 Essential Products: The Ideal Skincare Routine Needs

While some skincare routines are elaborate and lengthy, incorporating so many steps during a morning rush is not possible. Fortunately, you don’t need a complicated skincare routine to achieve a healthy, glowing, and even complexion.

The standard skincare routine includes six different products. Each one targets a separate area of concern.

And with this, it’s essential to match each product to your skin type.

Cleanser

The first and possibly most essential step of any skincare routine is cleansing. You need to wash your face to remove makeup, oil build-up, and environmental pollution twice a day. However, there are several types of cleansers on the market.

The main types of facial cleansers to choose from are foam and gel cleansers, which are suitable for oily and acne-prone skin types. Then there are milk and oil cleaners, ideal for dry and sensitive skin types. And lastly, exfoliating cleansers, which are suitable only for acne-prone skin.

So, if you have dry skin, you can consider a milk oatmeal facial cleanser.

Exfoliator

While it’s essential to exfoliate, it’s only best to do so two to three times per week. Exfoliators are also available in a pretty wide range. So choose one that suits your skin type and accommodates particular concerns you may have.

Toner

After cleansing or exfoliating, the next step is to tone. Many consider toner to be an extra unnecessary product. Although these formulations can rectify complexion, minimize pore size almost instantly, and clean off any leftover dirt or bacteria.

Serums

Serums are available in a vast assortment. Some target complexion, others target acne breakouts, and others target wrinkles or other skin concerns. Choose serums that are right for your skin, and apply after toning.

That said, leave serums to absorb fully before reaching for the following product in your skincare routine.

Moisturizer

Once your serums have fully absorbed into your skin, the next step is moisturizing. A prevalent skincare myth is that individuals with oily skin do not need to moisturize. However, oily skin requires moisture, but moisturizing products for this skin type also contain active ingredients that slow oil production. As a result, these products will improve skin appearance and health.

Sunscreen

Even if your moisturizer contains SPF, it’s still essential to apply a layer of sunscreen after moisturizing to safeguard skin health. Sun damage fuels the signs of aging by causing age spots, dark marks, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Standard Skincare Routine

This standard skincare routine can be added to targeted treatment products. So, if you have acne, rosacea, or other complexion concerns, add targeted treatment products after applying serums.

That said, when purchasing skincare products, it’s vital to choose formulations that complement your particular skin type. Using formulations for the wrong skin type can cause havoc. For example, if you have dry skin and are using products for oily skin, your initial concern will amplify. At the same time, suppose you have oily skin, and you are using products for dry skin, you could develop acne.
