Air Purifier with UV Light: Keeping the Air Clean in Our Fraggy Home

If you’ve read my article on my remedies for allergic rhinitis, then you probably know that I’m a big fan of air purifiers. Ever since I started using one years ago, my allergic rhinitis improved significantly. I no longer wake up with a runny nose. On top of that, my asthma attacks lessened! Now that my husband and I moved into our forever home, which has two bedrooms and an open floor living and dining room, it was important that I had more than one air purifier in our house.

I wanted to immediately put one in our living area aside from having one right beside me in our bedroom. This way, the air is always sanitized especially when our families visit. Luckily, URVO sent an air purifier with UV light, which covers 20 to 30 sqm.

The Benefits of an Air Purifier

Air purifiers help remove pollutants that can lead to immediate and long-term health benefits like the following:

Relieves Symptoms of Asthma

Breathing in polluted air increases the chances of asthma attacks. But air purifiers are able to capture pollutants like pet dander, pollen, and dust mites that float around—allowing you to breathe clean air. I am definitely a living testament! As someone who suffers from asthma and owns a pet dog and cat, who sleep in the same bedroom as me, I haven’t had an attack in years.

Eliminates Harmful Chemicals Indoors

If you live in a busy area full of cars passing by, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide can get inside your home. Toxins from cleaning agents that contain ammonia, chlorine, and phthalates can affect indoor air quality, too. Air purifiers can cleanse these chemicals by trapping them and recycling fresh air back to the room.

Neutralizes Unpleasant Odors

Because some chemicals give off unpleasant odors, air purifiers help absorb the smell. Try using one the next time you cook something in your kitchen. It can eliminate the smell of smoke and other random indoor odors.

Reduces Chances of Airborne Diseases

Airborne diseases like the common cold and flu spread through small pathogens floating around. So, when someone in the family catches the flu, other members can get it as well. To prevent diseases from spreading, air purifiers capture bacteria, viruses, and more—keeping you and your family safe.

Improves Sleep

Allergens like bacteria, fungi, and dust mites can trigger allergic rhinitis. Those with severe allergic rhinitis can even suffer from a runny nose for weeks (like my mom). Having an air purifier can clean the air in your room—removing allergens and allowing you to rest better at night.

Increases Life Expectancy

Air pollution can affect your cardiac, respiratory, and even neurological systems. Having a reliable air purifier traps even the smallest of particles to provide better air quality.

The Three Primary Functions of URVO’s UV Purifier with Mosquito Catcher

Now that you’re familiar with the many benefits of an air purifier, it’s now important to understand the types of air purifiers. There are air purifiers with HEPA filters, which can catch the tiniest particles that can’t be seen by the naked eye. Meanwhile, activated carbon air purifiers effectively trap odors. Lastly, there are air purifiers with UV light that kill germs floating in the air like URVO’s UV Purifier. It has three primary functions that include:

Air Sterilization

URVO’s air purifier with UV light uses short-wave ultraviolet light (UV-C light). It inactivates airborne pathogens and micro-organisms like mold, bacteria, and viruses. It also has a special coating to inactivate any ozone residues. As air is forced through the device by the fan motor, it passes the UV lamp—disinfecting it by germicidal irradiation. The smart air quality sensor will then shut down when the air quality is clean and safe.

Air Purification

URVO’s UV Air Purifier cleans the air through Photocatalyst or PCO Air Purifier with Activated Carbon Filter. This is an air purification technology that reduces circulating indoor allergens and removes particles with the destruction of organic matter not trapped by a traditional filter. People who suffer from allergies or are affected by impure air like secondhand smoke benefit from this technology. In addition, no ozone byproduct is produced because of a special coating on the UV LED lights.

Mosquito Catching

URVO’s UV Air Purifier is a mosquito catcher as well! It uses a 365nm UV-A LED Light that mimics the body temperature of humans. This quietly attracts and captures mosquitoes and other insects. No harmful byproduct is produced either—making it the safest and most natural way to kill mosquitoes.

To use any of these functions, you simply press the button for that specific function. I placed ours on the console table directly behind our couch in the living room. My most used function is Air Purification. But I use the other two functions once in a while, too. Ever since I got this air purifier with UV light from URVO, I feel more at ease knowing that it’s doing its job of keeping our indoor air clean.
